Our organic Gyokuro is an exquisite green tea from Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan. This tea is shade-grown for a minimum of 2 weeks or up to 3 weeks before harvesting. During this time of suspended photosynthesis the chlorophyll content increases, resulting in high levels of L-theanine, the amino acid to which the sweetness & umami flavor is attributed. This Gyokuro is very flavorful and fresh and a must-try for those who like their green tea with a lot of umami!
