Golden GABA Oolong

This is our latest GABA oolong that we have carefully selected to add to our collection of oolongs.

Golden GABA oolong is so named for the beautiful amber colored liquor of this delicious oolong when it is brewed. This tea uses the Qin Xin cultivar and has been carefully grown at approximately 700m elevation in Nantou, Taiwan. When brewed, this oolong has a wonderful honey and sweet raisin fragrance with a wonderfully smooth and slightly mineral taste. This is one of our favorite new teas of this year and lasts for many brews. Golden GABA oolong is approximately 30% oxidized.

GABA (gaba-aminobutyric acid) naturally occurs in all tea. GABA tea undergoes a vacuum anaerobic fermentation process which increases the GABA content in the tea leaf. To qualify as a GABA tea, the tea must have a minimum of 150g of GABA per 100g of tea. Golden GABA tea is a hand-harvested (as opposed to machine-reaped tea), so the leaves are more carefully selected and handled.

This delicious new tea has also passed all chemical residue tests and is certified for shipping to the EU which has extremely stringent rules for the amount of residue that can be on the tea leaf to allow for import into the Eurozone. If you like the GABA charcoal roasted oolong, you will probably enjoy this tea as well, even though it is not charcoal roasted as it shares some similar characteristics.
