2011 Early Spring Ripe Puerh - "Royal Tea King" Menghai Gongting Grade

Shou puerh is also known as "ripe" fermented black tea specifically from the Big Leaf cultivar in Yunnan Province, China. This particular cake is from the famous Menghai area, in Xishuangbanna, and has the name "Spring Buds of Imperial Tea King".

While there is not much information on the specific mountain or area the tea leaves are from, we do know this tea was harvested in Early Spring 2011 and the entire cake is graded gongting ("tribute") grade as the entire cake is composed of buds, resulting in an earthy fragrance with notes of hay and wood, and a very smooth and thick liquor.

If you're looking for something old and smooth with a nice earthy fragrance, this tea is definitely worth consideration. This tea is extremely smooth and does not have any bitterness.

Shou puerh is a probiotic tea and is excellent for digestive health and for warming the body. It steeps very strong and provides multiple pours per serving.

We break the cake into "fragments" for our customers to try. Each fragment can be broken up further into 3g or ~1 tsp servings.
