Phoenix Dancong Oolong is a single bush tea native to Phoenix Mountain in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province. This particular Dancong is harvested at an elevation of 600m by hand on Wudong Mountain, known to produce the best Dancongs due to its abundant red clay soil with its mineral content, and the presence of older tea trees.
Bai Ye Wang, also known as the "king of white leaves" was harvested this Spring 2022 from trees approximately 60 yrs in age. The tea has been 50% oxidized and lightly roasted, allowing for the intense sweet nectarish aromas to develop (sweet smell, not taste). The initial sensation you intake is a deep fruit fragrance, followed by flowers and honey. The tea liquor is golden nectar in color and the taste lingers long in the mouth, lightly sweet, mellow and smooth.
The sweet nectar fragrance of this tea is very unique and is a must try for lovers of Dancong. The best harvest of this tea is the spring and winter. Unfortunately the yield for this tea is quite low compared to other Dancongs.
These teas are produced in very small quantities, and we were fortunate to secure some for our customers! No sprays, pesticides or fertilizers were used to produce this tea.
