Phoenix Dancong Oolong - Magnolia - 2022 Spring Harvest

Phoenix Dancong Oolong is a single bush tea native to Phoenix Mountain in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province. Our Dancong is harvested at an elevation of 400m by hand on Wudong Mountain, known to produce the best dancongs due to its abundant red clay soil with its mineral content, and the presence of older tea trees.

The dried leaves are mostly a very dark brown with hints of both olive green and yellow. The aroma of the dried leaves are wonderfully floral and shaking them in your warm damp teapot of gaiwan will release their fragrance reminding you of stepping into a beautiful garden. There is also a hint of pleasant toasted almonds and pastry aroma. When brewed, the floral aroma will be very pronounced. You will taste multilayered floral flavors with notes of honey, toasted almonds, peaches, and a hint of citrus. There is a slight astringency but nothing to turn away from, it helps bring forth a bit of a lingering sweetness with each sip. The mouthfeel is both vibrant and creamy.

This would be a great tea to enjoy on a bright afternoon with some light pastries. A great tea to serve to friends on a lazy afternoon, but I can also see this tea being enjoyed as a nice way to get your day started as it has a very uplifting energetic feel to it, a bit like having dessert before dinner.
