Premium White Peony - 2021 Early Spring Harvest

This tea is harvested from unofficially organic tea trees in Fuding, Fujian, home of the most premium white teas in all of China. The freshness from the 2021 early spring harvest is obvious from the abundant hairy down on the buds which are visible to the naked eye, as well as the incredible floral fragrance.

This classic hand-harvested white tea is also known as "Bai Mu Dan", and is made up of young tea leaves and many silvery tips. It is called "White Peony" because the tea leaves, with white downy hair, resemble a peony flower. Bai Mu Dan has a honey floral fragrance and produces a warm amber cup.

Premium white peony is unique in that it has many buds, with trichomes (downy hairs) visible to the eye and is part of a limited harvest of first pluck teas in March 2021. The presence of trichomes indicates stronger inherent fragrance and flavor. The presence of trichomes also indicates a higher level of caffeine.

This tea is considered a treasure and is gifted in small quantity in China, due to its rarity, freshness and especially high quality.
